Belectric USA to install 60 MW of PV in Puerto Rico and California
18 October 2013
The combined capacity of 60 MW will be spread over several ground-mounted solar power plants in the U.S. state and Puerto Rico.
Beletric Inc. USA has secured the project rights to install a combined total of 60 MW of solar power in California, U.S., and the northern Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.
The project will consist of the construction of several ground-mounted PV plants, with work to begin before the end of 2013 and completion scheduled for mid-2014.
"Securing these project rights represents an important step for Belectric USA in establishing itself in the highly competitive U.S. market," said Belectric USA’s CEO Karl Markert. "We are proud to be a part of the future of energy supply in the USA. The decisive factors in winning the contracts were the professionalism, commitment and motivation of our employees."
Once completed, Beletric USA’s PV portfolio in the U.S. will stand at more than 130 MW – adding to the company’s growing reinvorgorated presence on the international stage. In 2011, Belectric was the world’s leading PV sytem integrator before losing top-spot last year to First Solar.
Currently ranked third, the company recently launched a joint venture with First Solar to develop PV plants across the U.S., North Africa and Europe. Under the partnership, Belectric has agreed to supply its Balance of Systems and other services to various projects, while First Solar will put forward their First Solar Tracker systems and CdTe thin-film modules.
The two companies have collaborated previously on a number of large PV projects, with an estimated 80% of Belectric’s 1,400 MW of installed capacity reliant on First Solar modules.
