Azerbaijan has completed the Strategy of development of renewable and alternative energy sources in 2012-2020.

This was announced at event Covenant of Mayors to the east by chief investment officer of the Ministry of Industry and Energy Ramiz Rzayev.


He also said in the near future the project will be submitted for approval.


According to him, Azerbaijan has prepared "The wind cadastre" and currently is working on "Solar Cadastre".


"These cadastres will help to better identify the types of power plants, which can be used in the respective territories," said Rzayev.


Referring to some of the problems in the energy inefficiencies in Azerbaijan, he said that one of the problems is that there is still no supervisory and regulatory body for renewable and alternative energy sources.


"Also, there is the issue of tariffs, since the production of electricity from these plants costs a bit more expensive than conventional systems," said the representative of the Ministry.


He also noted that there were problems of financing of energy efficiency and the slow development of heat supply.
