Goldpoly builds 111 MW of PV plants in Gansu, Fujian Provinces, China

Goldpoly New Energy Company (Hong Kong) and a subsidiary have commissioned two solar photovoltaic (PV) plants totaling 111 MW in different regions of China during June 2013.

Subsidiary China Merchants New Energy Holdings (Hong Kong) connected a 100 MW PV plant in Jiayuguan, Gansu Province to the grid on June 15th, 2013. Goldpoly also commissioned a 10.8 MW PV plant at one of its facilities in Fujian Province on June 17th, 2013.

“The 100MW Jiayuguan PV plant makes efficient use of the local area's abundant solar energy resources and barren land,” said Goldpoly CEO Li Yuan. “By providing clean energy for development of China's Western regions as well as sending that energy east, we hope to realize the green dream along with millions of families.”

10.8 MW plant largest in Fujian Province to date

The plant in Fujian Province is located on the roofs of the Goldpoly Science & Technology Park in the Jinjiang Economic Development Zone, as well as on vacant land.

The Goldpoly plant is a demonstration project under the nation's Golden Sun Program, as well as the largest PV plant in Fujian Province to date. The plant will supply electricity to Goldpoly facilities, with the surplus sent to the grid.

China increasing domestic demand as response to trade war

In Goldpoly's press release for the Jiayuguan PV plant, the company includes a statement by China Renewable Energy Society President Shi Dinghuan, who states that China will introduce additional policies to increase domestic demand in response to solar trade disputes with with the US and Europe. Shi also serves as State Department Counselor.
